Biography
Keyon is a native of Los Angeles, California, and currently studies as a freshman dance major at Alabama State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. He graduated from Hollywood High School in 2025, where he completed advanced coursework in ballet, contemporary, and choreography. His artistic foundation is rooted in classical and contemporary technique, with a growing passion for storytelling through movement and representation in the arts.
Keyon’s formal training began at Hollywood High School’s performing arts program, where he studied Advanced Ballet (2022), Advanced Contemporary (2023–2025), and Choreography (2024–2025). He has continued to expand his training through master classes and community-based programs, including a 2025 master class at USC Kaufman School of Dance and multiple class series with Versa-Style Dance LA (2023–2025), focusing on hip-hop, freestyle, and street dance foundations. From 2022 to 2025, he also trained at Playground LA, where he explored commercial and freestyle movement styles.
Throughout his high school career, Keyon actively participated in guest choreographer projects, performing in Khalif Morgan’s 2022 work “Genetics” and appearing in Antonio Hudnell’s 2024 piece “Hip Hop Piece.” These experiences deepened his understanding of collaborative process and artistic versatility, allowing him to engage with diverse choreographic voices and styles.
As a performer, Keyon has appeared in Alabama State University’s Fall Concert and Student Choreography Showcase, contributing to faculty-led and student-driven works. His movement is shaped by emotional depth, cultural awareness, and a commitment to growth. He approaches dance as a language of truth and transformation, using his body to explore identity, resilience, and social impact.
Keyon is deeply inspired by Black-led dance companies and the legacy of excellence they uphold. His artistic vision is grounded in representation, healing, and innovation. He strives to contribute to the evolving landscape of dance by creating work that uplifts marginalized voices and challenges traditional narratives.
In addition to his academic and performance pursuits, Keyon is building a personal dance website to showcase his journey, achievements, and creative evolution. His biography, training history, and performance experience reflect a dancer who is not only technically skilled but also emotionally intelligent, community-oriented, and driven by purpose.
Keyon’s long-term goals include contributing to the legacy of Black excellence in dance, advocating for equity in the arts, and promoting inclusive norms around masculinity, mental health, and education. His work stands as a testament to the power of movement to inspire, connect, and transform.
